India’s Saina Nehwal out of Thai Open after COVID-19 test

Former No. 1-ranked Saina Nehwal was withdrawn from the $1 million Thailand Open and sent to a Bangkok hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. The result was revealed shortly before Nehwal was scheduled to play a first-round match on Tuesday against Kisona Selvaduray of Malaysia, who got a walkover into the second round. Another Indian player, Kashyap Parupalli, was also withdrawn before the first round, giving Canada’s Jason Anthony Ho-Shue a walkover.
