Sebastien Haller subject of Ajax bid with West Ham wanting £25 million for striker

West Ham United are in talks with Ajax over the sale of club record signing Sebastien Haller, with the London club hoping to recoup £25 million of the £45 million they paid for him in the summer of 2019. Dutch sources claim Ajax have made a bid worth around £18 million, with West Ham hoping to negotiate the final figure closer to £25 million. West Ham also want to line up a replacement for Haller before agreeing to his sale with Bournemouth forward Josh King among their targets. King was on West Ham’s radar last summer and his contract expires at the end of this season, which means he could come relatively cheap. Michail Antonio has missed matches through injury this season and manager David Moyes could not risk selling Haller without having another alternative. Haller has largely been a disappointment since joining West Ham from Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 14 goals in 50 appearances for the club. The 26-year-old has fallen behind Antonio in Moyes’ pecking order and has struggled to fit into the Scotsman’s style of player, despite scoring some spectacular goals. King is yet to score in eight Championship appearances for Bournemouth this season, but uncertainty over his future has impacted the Norwegian’s role at the club
